Sun, Hikes, and Good People

Hi beloved people!
God is so good. That is really all I have to say right now. I thank Him so much for the work he is doing here this summer. I have seen His hand so clearly in Eagle River, in my life, and in the lives of those around me. I have been thinking a lot about identity lately, because my own sense of identity has been shifting and changing. I have reflected on the truth of who I am, and that has changed my life drastically. There is nothing more valuable than discovering how God sees us, and what our true identity is. The truth is this: I am the daughter of God Almighty, the King, my Father who loves me. You are the son/daughter of God Almighty, the KING, your Father, who loves you. That is our identity first and foremost. Royalty. The inheritance of God is ours. What would it look like for us to walk in that reality, that we are princes and princesses? Royalty? Sons and daughters of the creator of the world?

As far as ministry here in Eagle River goes, things have been going really well! A couple weeks ago we went on a camping trip with some folks from both high school and college groups at Chickaloon, which is a beautiful retreat center with two cabins on a lake, a couple hours North of Eagle River. Our theme for the weekend was silence and solitude, so we reflected on who we are apart from the stimulation of our phones, what other people are saying about us, and the fast pace of culture. I think those who came were really encouraged.

Every Monday night the college group has been meeting for Bible Study at Jitters, a coffee shop in town. I have been really stretched by leading this, and preparing messages that resonate with those who attend. God has also been moving in powerful ways through this group studying His word together. A different combination of people come every week, so I never know what to expect, which is fun!
Every Thursday night the college group meets for Frisbee in a park in Chugiak, which is about 15 minutes North of Eagle River. That has been a fun time of fellowship and creates space for us to all get to know each other with no pressure.

I am definitely going to be sad to leave this place in 3 and a half weeks when the fellowship is over. I have come to love Alaska, and the freedom that comes with living here.

May the peace of Christ rule and reign in your hearts this week.
Love, Olivia
